There is yet another way that GPS tracking increases production and efficiency. It is called the Observer or Hawthorne Effect and it is based on a study done of workers from 1924 to 1932. Changes were made in the work place environment that were both positive and negative. No matter what changes were done, productivity increased. This led to the belief that workers when observed produced better. In a similar fashion, GPS tracking enables fleet manager to observe drivers, dispatchers, etc. Knowing that they are being observed improves production. Whether this is done out of pride or care or even fear is irrelevant. The fact is that empowering managers with GPS tracking tools puts them in a position to control their network. Greater efficiencies, streamlined production are the result.
Of course the best GPS Fleet Tracking tools come from FleetMatics!

It is not just a matter of trust to know what is happening with each vehicle in your fleet. It is a matter of responsibility to know to the moment the status of each vehicle. Even if your crew is the most responsible and trustworthy on the planet, monitoring your vehicles is key to your bottom-line. How is this so? Let’s take a look!
How do you feel when you are in control? Pretty good, no? And when things go out of control, they become chaos, right? Truly then, unless you have GPS fleet tracking, your fleet has never been under control. You don’t know exactly where your vehicles are at all times. You don’t know if your drivers speed. You don’t know how long your vehicles idle, wasting fuel. You don’t know how much your vehicles are being used for personal business. All this affects your bottom-line big time and is costing you thousands and thousands of dollars.
However, the moment you install GPS fleet tracking you can breathe a sigh of relief because all of the information above is at your fingertips and you are in control. Your are in the drivers seat because you can control your fleet.
Jeremy Wilson, Operations Director, Simmonds Transport told us, “We have saved over £48,000 in Diesel costs and £25,000 in wage costs in our first year with FleetMatics.”
And Rod Smith, Managing Director IT, RBS Groundworks Ltd. said, “In our first year with FleetMatics, we saved over £25,000 in overtime costs. We also saw tremendous savings of £18,000 in petrol costs.”
It’s time to go FleetMatics!
